A 29-years-old Nigerian man studying in the UK, Jayeola Abiola, has been jailed for 12 months over a sham marriage. The Hull University masters student needed to marry to stay in the UK, and that led him into paying a Portuguese woman, Vania Pinheiro-Fernandes, to be his bride.
Officers of the UK border agency had been tipped off by the Hull Registrar that the couple seemed to barely know each other when they were interviews at the rehearsal. On the wedding day, the UK border agency secretly filmed the cars, groom, bride and best man arriving outside the grand 19th century council town hall before arresting them.

Horrible: iPhone 4 explodes next to sleeping owner's head
An iPhone 4 user in Chongqing awoke to find his phone smoldering after it exploded next to him as he slept, Chongqing Morning Post reported on July 10.
"It's still horrible to think I was sleeping right beside it," said Wang Kai, whose phone was now scorched and twisted after it spontaneously-combusted on his bamboo sleeping mat.
Wang said his roommate Zhang Jie awoke first after hearing the explosion and smelling smoke. He entered the room to find Wang asleep as his pillow, mattress and sleeping mat smoldered from the explosion.
Wang explained his company had bought the phones in bulk and given them out to employees. The iPhone was confirmed to be a genuine Apple product.
While local police say the fire was caused by faulty parts, Apple has been contacted and is now investigating for user error.

President Goodluck Jonathan and the First Lady, Patience Jonathan were received by the Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister, Le Yucheng on the arrival to Beijin International Airport China for State visit today, Tuesday July 9. President Jonathan is on a five-day state stop by at China to make economic deals which will be signed after high-level talks with the country. The deals will include an Agreement on Defence Cooperation between Nigeria and China, an Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation; an Agreement on Finance for the Zungeru Power Plant and Airport Terminals; and an Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports.
